US Senate Approves $100.7B Agriculture Spending Bill Without Prescription
Drug Reimportation Provision
The Senate on Thursday passed a $100.7 billion fiscal year 2006 Agriculture spending bill (HR 2744), which would fund the U.S. Department of Agriculture, FDA, and other agencies and programs. It does not include a provision (that appears in the House version of the bill) that would prevent FDA from enforcing restrictions on reimporting less-expensive prescription drugs from other nations. The Senate has named conferees to reconcile the House and Senate versions of the bill, while the House has not yet done so.
New Study Shows High-Carb, Vegan Diet Causes Major Weight Loss
A low-fat, plant-based diet is more effective at helping women lose weight and improve insulin sensitivity than an omnivorous diet. The simplicity of a vegan diet appeals to people who are busy with work and family, and many familiar recipes are easy to adapt. At least four studies published in peer-reviewed journals show that patients give the low-fat vegetarian diet a high rating in terms of acceptability, and that the transition only takes about three weeks or less.

CONTINUING OUR 12-STAGE JOURNEY TO WELLNESS
This week our journey focuses on the power of PLAYING & WORKING, the 8th of 12
keys to wellness drawn from the Wellness Inventory whole person assessment
program. Most of our daily life falls under one of these two categories. For us
adults, the majority of time is usually spent focused on work with far too
little time allowed for play. What passes for play for most adults is more
likely to be escape activities-- distraction from the responsibilities of work.
Many people turn to the entertainment industry instead of engaging in the
joyful, creative, spontaneous play that is vital to our wellbeing.

There's a Yogi in the Kitchen!
Regardless of what ingredients are used, if the cook's consciousness is not prayerful, loving, or joyful ... that food will not be a healing food. Period. It is important to have a state of mind that is free of anger when you are preparing any meal. Instead be filled with heartfelt love for those (including the self!) who will be eating the food, joy in its preparation, and, most importantly, a sense of the Divine coming into the food. In "The Yogi’s Secret Ingredient" Siri-Ved Kaur Khalsa shows why restaurant food becomes so tiring. It only satisfies the belly; rarely does it elevate, nurture and heal.
