Re my case study in WDDTY vol 15 no 4, unfortunately, a few words were added, and they are wrong. Dr Collin H. Dong’s diet, as described The Arthritic’s Cookbook (1974) and New Hope for the Arthritic (1976), makes no specific mention of nightshades. He actually says, 'You can eat any vegetable except tomato'. The diet bans milk in all its forms, meat (except for small helpings of chicken or turkey breast occasionally), all fruit except avocados, all chemical additives, pepper and chocolate. Basically, it’s a fish and vegetable diet.
Nowadays, life on the diet is much easier. More additive-free foods are available.
