History and Mission

Psychosynthesis International was founded in 1984 by Edith R. Stauffer, Ph.D., a student of Roberto Assagioli, M.D., and author of the book, "Unconditional Love and Forgiveness." Dr. Stauffer perceived the need for a way in which people in remote or urban areas throughout the world could study and be exposed to psychosynthesis. Psychosynthesis International has been serving students, teachers, ministers, nuns, psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, homemakers, businesspeople, and other people interested in healing and spirituality, worldwide, for over 14 years. Our mission is to increase awareness, facilitate personal healing, and educate on the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. Through the teaching and application of Psychosynthesis, and related philosophies, we endeavor to be an active force for the betterment and healing of our world. All of our Board Members and Mentors are highly qualified and actively taking part in the teaching and healing of people around the world, and our planet Earth.

"What am I then?" What remains after discarding from my self-identity the physical, emotional and mental contents of my personality, of my ego? It is the essence of myself -- a center of pure self-consciousness and self-realization. It is the permanent factor in the ever varying flow of my personal life. It is that which gives me the sense of being, of permanence, or inner security."

--Roberto Assagioli, M.D.
