Qigong in the Workplace
The official use of Qigong and Taiji (Taiji) in the workplaces and
schools in China was one of the positive results of China's tragic
revolutionary period between the 1940's and the 1970's. Many factories take
several breaks during the workday to practice Qigong.
One of my favorite Qigong institutes in Hangzhou is like a spa
where workers come to do professional training, have a retreat and learn to
practice Qigong. It is named "Nine Clouds Mountain". This is a part of
their job description, not a vacation.
The Chinese have known for centuries that the daily practice of
self-improvement methods sustains health, eliminates injuries and enhances
productivity. Qigong is the official tool for wellness in the workplace and
many factories have Qigong instructors on staff to help to refine the
employees (called workers) practice skill.
