If the most profound medicine is produced within us and if it is easy to activate it, then why wouldn't we stay connected to the process of producing this marvelous resource continuously? In actuality, you are continuously producing natural healing resources within you. After all, how did you sustain your vitality throughout your life? We rarely ask, "What causes and sustains our life and our health?" This miracle, the "original cause" of life and health, the healer within, has been serving you spontaneously for decades.

However, as we have discussed, the natural self-healing capacity can become deficient, or blocked, or imbalanced through injury, unhealthy circumstances, or disease. The health enhancement and self-healing methods are powerful tools that can be used to reestablish strength, flow, and harmony in our internal mechanisms of self-healing. It may not be possible to do body movement, self-massage, or deep meditation continuously. However, you can sprinkle them throughout your day. And it is possible to take deep breaths on a regular basis, as described in Breath Practices. It is also possible to engage in the Momentary Methods throughout the day.

Plus, there is another, deeper level of practice that you may want to explore. At this level the focus is to sustain a continuous connection with the source or force that is the "original cause" of the spontaneous activity of the healer within. "Original causes is a way of describing the origins from which the architect of the universe created the human experience. In the Western world we usually use the word God. The ancients in every culture have such a word. In India it is Atma. In China it is called Mystery or the Prenatal Origin. Continuous self-healing practice can be accomplished by sustaining direct awareness of the source of all the gifts, blessings, and promises of the spiritual traditions the original cause.

The ancient Chinese Taoist tradition has a "Secret Four Word Formula for Success": relaxed, tranquil, fearless, carefree. Unceasing awareness of this formula, sustained throughout the day, is a potent method for continuous practice. Some traditions repeat the "names of God" as continuous practice. In the Christian tradition a formula for continuous practice was given: "pray unceasingly." Reaching for continuous practice is a doorway leading from self-healing to spiritual practice.
