Q:Your article in Volume 3 No 1 "The Cholesterol Myth" confirmed my feeling that cholesterol can't be the real cause of heart attacks or strokes, as the old time farmers used to consume large amounts of fat bacon, eggs, butter, cheese and fried food, as it was available from their own farms but didn't get heart attacks.
In your list of contributory causes, you do not mention chlorine in water. I obtained a book by Dr. Joseph M Price, entitled, "Coronaries, Cholesterol, Chlorine" from the National Pure Water Association, Secretary, N Brugge, "Meridan", Caegoody Lane, Ellesmere, Shrops. SY12 2DWIn looking for a basic cause of atherosclerosis, it occurred to Price that heart attacks and strokes were rare in the 19th century, and have increased dramatically in the twentieth century. During that time , people died of typhoid and similar water borne diseases, so water was "purified" with chlorine. Apparently, chickens can get fatty plagues in the aorta, so Price did an experiment with them, giving one batch highly chlorinated water and the control batch un chlorinated water. After three weeks the chlorinated batch were showing signs of blockage of circulation, and after death the aortas had fatty patches in them. I found this book very convincing, so I hope you will obtain it. P. W., Verwood.......
A:Thank you for sharing the information about chlorine with us. We'll be covering other hazards in water, including the risks of fluoridation, several issues hence, so please keep reading.
